Refugee & Displacement Camps
Supporting organisations providing sanitation for people displaced by conflict, persecution or humanitarian crises.
The Waterless Sanitation Assistance Fund (WSAF) has been established to help bring safe, dignified and environmentally sustainable sanitation to communities that need it most but cannot afford it. Through the Fund, donations can be combined with the support of manufacturers, transport providers, humanitarian organisations and local partners to make practical waterless sanitation assistance possible.
Why Donate?
Access to safe sanitation should never depend solely upon a community’s ability to pay. Yet refugee camps, disaster relief operations, remote villages, schools, clinics and vulnerable communities throughout the world often lack both adequate sanitation and the financial resources needed to obtain it.
Many of these communities could benefit enormously from sustainable waterless sanitation. The Waterless Sanitation Assistance Fund has therefore been created as a growing pool of financial and practical support through which carefully selected communities and organisations may receive assistance to obtain ECOLOO toilets or other appropriate waterless sanitation solutions.
Every contribution, whether large or small, becomes part of a humanitarian response to one of the most fundamental human needs: safe, dignified and sustainable sanitation.
Supporting organisations providing sanitation for people displaced by conflict, persecution or humanitarian crises.
Helping provide practical sanitation following floods, earthquakes, cyclones, fires and other emergencies.
Assisting villages, schools, clinics and community organisations that cannot afford adequate sanitation infrastructure.
Supporting initiatives that conserve freshwater while improving sanitation, public health and environmental resilience.

Partners in Practical Assistance
The WSAF is intended to become a catalyst that brings together people and organisations able to contribute different parts of a practical sanitation response.
Individuals, families, businesses and foundations provide the financial resources that make assistance possible.
Product partners may contribute special pricing, technical knowledge, equipment and installation assistance.
Transport and logistics providers can help overcome the cost and complexity of reaching remote locations.
Trusted organisations identify genuine needs, coordinate projects and support community training and long-term use.
From Understanding to Action
The Waterless Sanitation Assistance Fund will be linked with the forthcoming book The Global Water Crisis: Why the Future of Humanity Depends on Restoring the Water Cycle by Denis McCarthy. The book will explain why protecting freshwater requires not only greater understanding, but practical action that enables sustainable solutions to reach communities in need.
Why the Future of Humanity Depends on Restoring the Water Cycle
The book explores water scarcity, flooding, pollution, ecosystem degradation and the disruption of the natural water cycle. It also considers practical pathways—including ecological sanitation, water conservation, regenerative design and restoration—that can help humanity move from understanding the crisis to constructive action.
The Waterless Sanitation Assistance Fund is intended to become one of those pathways: a practical means through which readers, donors, organisations and humanitarian partners can help sustainable sanitation reach communities unable to fund it themselves.
Publication and ordering information will be added as it becomes available. Visitors may use the contact page now to register their interest or request purchasing details.
Imad Agi has agreed to contribute an informative, evidence-based and inspiring guest chapter examining the global sanitation challenge, the growing limitations of conventional wastewater systems, the importance of decentralised sanitation, the science behind ECOLOO’s biological treatment technology, and real-world environmental and social case studies from different regions. The chapter will provide a natural setting in which to introduce the WSAF as a practical pathway for helping worthy communities and humanitarian organisations gain access to waterless sanitation.

Major Giving and Tax-Deductible Giving
One-time contributions of USD $10,000 or more are not presented as ordinary card transactions. They begin with a conversation so that the donor's intentions, receiving account, documentation and any available charitable pathway can be explained clearly. Monthly support is available online at the seven fixed levels above, with other recurring amounts arranged personally.
EcoWaterless Toilets intends to establish a bank account used specifically for WSAF purposes. Once the banking, accounting and governance arrangements are in place, approved contributors will be provided with transfer instructions privately rather than having sensitive banking information published openly on the website.
A proposed pathway is being developed with United States of Well-being (USWB), a registered charity in Sydney. Under the arrangement being discussed, eligible donors may be able to contribute through USWB and nominate WSAF as the preferred charitable purpose. The approved instructions, receipt arrangements and wording will be published only after they have been formally confirmed with USWB.
No contribution should be described as tax deductible until the approved charitable pathway is active and the donor satisfies the applicable requirements.
Transparency and Accountability
The WSAF exists to provide practical humanitarian assistance through carefully selected projects. As the Fund grows, EcoWaterless Toilets intends to publish information about supported initiatives, project partners and measurable outcomes so that donors can see how their contributions are being used and the difference they are helping to make.
